Information about the Volunteer and Teach English in Cambodia Program and about the school you will be supporting

The school we are cooperating with is a humanitarian organisation, aiming to educate the poor and orphaned children living in the Roka area of Cambodia. We are always looking for volunteers who want to go over to Cambodia for an indefinite amount of time to teach the children basic English.

The school loves variation and they love to give dance and painting classes, while offering free food to the local children. You can also come up with an individual (funny) program (e.g. Yoga classes). The Director and the teachers of the school are more than happy to give you all the support you will need for that.

Over 300 children visit the school daily. About 70% of the kids are from poor families from the local community, around 30% are orphan children. The kids are between 3 years and 23 years old.

The school opened it’s doors in 2009.

Siem Reap city is located in the northwest of the country, close to the Thai border and is the capital of the province Siem Reap. This place is very popular amongst travellers because of it’s famous temples of Angkor. Angkor Wat was a Hindu temple built in the past of the Khmer empire.

Over time it gradually became a place of worship for Buddhists. It is the largest religious building in the world so it’s definitely worth a visit. Our school is located about 10 km away form Siem Reap city.

Which teaching opportunities do you have?

You have the opportunity to teach English 1-3 times a day. Sometimes to teach English to foreigners can be really exhausting and we want you to enjoy you volunteering abroad experience. For this reason our recommendation to you is to teach English twice a day with the option to choose your own English teaching methods.

Should you feel more confident, you have done it billions of times and it’s an easy task for you to teach 3 times a day, please go for it! The kids love to listen to your westerner accent! Here you find the different teaching times:

What we need from you to be an active volunteer in Cambodia:

A degree or prior teaching experience is an advantage, but it’s not required. You must have the TEFL certificate, be fluent and understand the basics of the language. And most important, you must be willing to help to make a difference in the lives of more than 300 children. Get your TEFL certificate online here.

By supporting small projects like this, you are making a huge impact on the kids and you help to make a difference in this world.

Many companies will charge you for their teaching volunteering programmes, however we don’t believe in it and appreciate you giving your time for free, so we offer the programme for free as well. You would need to pay for your own food. In some cases accommodation may be provided for free. Through my contacts and network I have established across the world, you won’t pay a penny for your time volunteering in Cambodia.

So, what are you waiting for? If you wish to participate and would like more information, please email me.
